Underrated parks and monuments

Came across a few more sites today on national parks and monuments.  Maybe there’s a large influx of web articles due to the summer season coming up, or maybe because I never paid too much attention in the past – but there sure seems to be a lot these days.

Chicago Tribune posted today 20 least-visited national monuments. The last one is breathtaking but I was shocked at the amount of people who had seen it in 2009. I’m going to have to spend a month in Alaska if I ever hope to see all of it I think.  I was also surprised at how many ancient ruins there are in the southwest. I’ll have to go check those out some day. Here is the link:

The second article I found today was on msnbc.com. It listed a few of the more underrated national parks, noting that the lesser known ones have a smaller price tag to get through the gates.

On other news, I booked another bed and breakfast today for our trip to Oregon in July. I am awaiting official confirmation that it was booked.  This one is in the wine country.
